in the 90s it was all hippie garbage and muscle cars from the 60s
in the 00s everyone stopped for a bit because the 70s sucked real bad
in the 10s it was the 80s
now we're in 90s nostalgia zone. expect tie-die, frutiger aero and PSx/PS2 graphics to be real cool stuff through the end of the decade

PS2 was always the sad copy type of XBOX.

Frutiger aero and psx graphics are sort-of on the way out. I never thought I'd see it but there's obama-era nostalgia now. I always figured we'd just loop back to 60s or 70s nostalgia.

Thinking on it further I'm not sure this trend existed before the cultural reset/year zero in the 60s. Before you had a greater historical consciousness? Past awareness? I'm not sure of the term. Anyway, the 30 year cycle involved resurrecting centuries past, not just the decade. You can see the Byzantine, Egyptian and Old English revivals of the early 20th century, and the 'gay (18)90s' revival of the early 50s-60s.
